I believe as filmmakers, we are first and foremost storytellers. While cinematography requires great technical knowledge, it is my philosophy that the camera is just a tool to help interpret the story in the best way possible. I have always strived to never get overly distracted with technical choices, but instead focus on what is necessary for the story and for the characters to thrive in the world that we have created for them. As a cinematographer, I am always listening and responding to the needs of my collaborators. There is no better feeling on set than feeling like your DP has your back. My job is to provide that feeling of security.
